Guttorm Guttormsen has been active as a woodwind player and composer since the early 1970s. He moved to Skien from Mo i Rana and played a central role in the jazz boom in Grenland in the mid-70s, especially with the establishment of a big band in Skien. Simultaneously, he had great success with the GG Quartet. He helped start Telemark Teater, later known as Teater Ibsen, where he has been the musical director from the beginning. He is one of the country's most frequently used theater composers.
Line Bjørnør Rosland (bass clarinet, clarinet) is a clarinetist educated at the Rogaland Music Conservatory and the Norwegian Academy of Music. She teaches at Skien High School and is a frequently used clarinet soloist.
Audun Kleive (drums) is one of the country's foremost drummers, with a significant international reputation. He is known for collaborations with Jon Balke, Terje Rypdal, Marilyn Mazur, and Jan Gunnar Hoff, as well as his own projects with Christian Wallumrød and Nils Petter Molvær.
Finn Arne Dahl Hanssen (trumpet) has a master's degree from the Norwegian Academy of Music. He has worked for many years as a freelance trumpeter in various contexts. He plays in the Telemark Brass Quintet and also works as the general manager of NMF South.
Jan Olav Renvåg (bass) has a broad career as a freelance bassist, which brings him into contact with military bands, disco bands, and folk singers (to name a few). He has played extensively with the Geir Lysnes Listening Ensemble.
André Kassen is a saxophonist and composer with a master's degree from the Conservatory in Kristiansand. He is active in "traditional" jazz settings and in collaborations with sound artists such as Jan Bang and Erik Honoré.
Thomas Johansson (trumpet) was educated at the Rogaland Music Conservatory in Stavanger and the Norwegian Academy of Music. He works as a freelance trumpeter and trumpet teacher, participates in many projects, and has had great success with his own group "Cortex."
Jon Øystein Rosland (saxophone, composition) was educated at Berklee, the Norwegian Academy of Music (composition), and holds a master's degree from the University of Kristiansand. He has worked as a regional musician in Sogn og Fjordane and now works at the music department of Skien High School.
Åsgeir Grong (bass trombone) was educated at the Norwegian Academy of Music. He is a freelance trombonist who frequently plays in various symphony orchestras and military bands. He also runs his own recording studio and plays in the Telemark Brass Quintet.
André Roligheten is a Norwegian jazz musician (saxophone) and composer, known from numerous recordings and bands such as Albatrosh, Team Hegdal, and Friends & Neighbors. He has also played with musicians like Andrew D'Angelo, Theo Bleckmann, Django Bates, John Edwards, Paul Lovens, Axel Dörner, Robin Hayward, Raymond Strid, Bugge Wesseltoft, Mathias Eick, Ola Kvernberg, Paal Nilssen-Love, and Per Zanussi. Roligheten has performed at various festivals such as Moldejazz, Kongsberg Jazz Festival, Oslo Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, Münster Jazz Festival, Süd-Tirol Jazz Festival, 12 Points, Dølajazz, Nattjazz, Jazzfest, MaiJazz, SoddJazz, Vossajazz, and has done several tours in Scandinavia, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, France, Italy, China, and the USA.
Eyolf Dale (piano) is a Norwegian pianist and composer based in Oslo. He began playing piano at age 6 and received early piano instruction. After completing high school, he worked as a freelance pianist, bandleader, and arranger in the Grenland area before beginning his undergraduate studies at the Norwegian Academy of Music in 2005. There he studied under Misha Alperin, Bjørn Kruse, and Jon Balke, completing his master's degree in 2011.
Dale has an extensive production as a composer for jazz ensembles and ensembles in classical and contemporary music. He has performed at most Norwegian jazz festivals, as well as international festivals such as North Sea Jazz Festival, London Jazz Festival, Pori Jazz, Shanghai Arts Festival, JazzKaar, Südtirol Jazz Festival, among others. Since 2013, he has also been employed as an associate professor of jazz at the Norwegian Academy of Music.
Guro Kvåle (trombone) is a trombonist involved in various projects. She plays with bands such as Private Property!, HELLO WORLD!, SUPERSPREDER, and the Herman Hestbek Ensemble.
Erik Johannesen (trombone) is from Lambertseter in Oslo and was educated at the Jazz Department of NTNU in Trondheim and the University of Oslo. He plays trombone in bands like Jaga Jazzist, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, Loud Jazz Band, Lord Kelvin, Funky Hot Grits, Ensemble Denada, Magic Pocket, and Meg og kammeraten min. He primarily plays jazz and pop music and also works as a composer and arranger in various contexts.
Erik Johannesen has toured throughout Europe and the world with Jaga Jazzist and Ensemble Denada, across Poland with Loud Jazz Band, and across Norway with various other bands. With the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, he has performed with Joshua Redman, Eirik Hegdal, Terje Rypdal, Jon Balke, Erlend Skomsvoll, Maria Kannegaard, and his own quartet Magic Pocket. Additionally, he has released jazz albums with Lord Kelvin and Magic Pocket. He won the Sparebank1 Midtnorge Jazz Stipend 2009/10 with Magic Pocket and the Spellemann Award in 2010 in the open class with Jaga Jazzist's One-Armed Bandit.
He has directed, arranged, and composed for various big bands such as Kjellerbandet, Midtnorsk Youth Big Band, Follo Big Band, Orkdal Big Band, Kristiansund Big Band, Vollen Big Band, Travelin' Big Band, and the Sintef Big Band. He has also contributed trombone parts for pop albums with DumDum Boys, Maria Mena, Martin Hagfors, Jens Carelius, and many others.
