SJO & Fredrik Ljungkvist (nov 2023)

Glossolalia is a new collaboration with Scheen Jazzorkester and the renowned Fredrik Ljungkvist (saxophones/clarinets). Ljungkvist has been a leading musician and composer on the European and international jazz scene since the 90s, notably in bands such as the Norwegian/Swedish Atomic, his own quartet Yun Kan, and the trio LSB with Johan Bertling and Raymond Strid. SJO is excited about this commissioned work, where Ljungkvist will also be joined by the two Swedish musicians Mathias Ståhl and Mats Äleklint. Both vibrafonist Ståhl and trombonist Äleklint has been involved in several projects in Norway in recent years, including collaborations with the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and Angles. As a composer, Ljungkvist is known for his lyrical and whimsical melodies, energetic grooves, and intense improvisations. This promises to be an exciting and engaging concert featuring a sharp Jazz Orchestra collaborating with two of the current stars of European jazz!
